Bantay Bukid is a community-based environmental protection program composed of dedicated volunteers who play a vital role in safeguarding Davao City’s watersheds, forests, and natural resources. Working in close coordination with the Watershed Management Council (WMC) and guided by the Watershed Code of Davao City, the initiative reflects a strong collaboration between local government and grassroots communities. Its efforts are anchored in both national and local policies that emphasize the importance of active citizen participation in environmental stewardship.
At the forefront of their work, Bantay Bukid volunteers regularly monitor environmentally critical areas, particularly watersheds that serve as the city’s current and future sources of drinking water. Their presence helps deter illegal activities such as logging and land encroachment while ensuring the continued health of these ecosystems. A significant number of these volunteers come from Indigenous and upland farming communities, bringing with them invaluable traditional knowledge and lived experience that strengthen forest protection and conservation efforts.
Since 2023, Anchor Land has been an active partner in advancing Bantay Bukid’s mission, particularly through its support for reforestation initiatives. By participating in tree-growing activities and seedling planting, the company contributes to watershed rehabilitation, biodiversity conservation, and the long-term ecological sustainability of Davao City. These efforts not only help restore degraded landscapes but also reinforce the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
In December 2025, Anchor Land’s Davao team once again demonstrated its commitment by taking part in a large-scale planting activity titled “Pag-Amuma sa Kinaiyahan” (Nurturing Nature). Organized in partnership with the office of Councilor Atty. Jay Melchor B. Quitain, the initiative brought together various stakeholders in a shared effort to protect and rehabilitate critical forest areas in the region.
Aside from seedling activities, the team also extended support to the frontliners of environmental protection by distributing care kits to Bantay Bukid volunteers and forest rangers. This gesture recognized their vital role and daily sacrifices in safeguarding natural resources, while also helping ensure their well-being as they continue their work on the ground.
“We are deeply grateful for partnerships like this, as they allow us to extend greater support to our Bantay Bukid rangers who are working day in and day out to protect our forests and natural resources,” said Quitain.
Building on these efforts, Anchor Land is gearing up for even more initiatives in the coming year—expanding its support and creating new opportunities to uplift communities and protect the environment.
