What’s New In Bay City Manila
Bay City Manila remains one of the country’s most dynamic districts. With new projects in tourism, MICE, transport, and leisure, the Business and Entertainment Center continues to expand. To stay updated, here’s a quick briefing on the latest developments that are shaping the area:
MICE
SMX Convention Center to Double Capacity by 2027
SMX Convention Center Manila, one of the country’s largest event venues, is expected to significantly increase its capacity within the next 2 years. Opening by 2027, SMXCITE is a world-class exhibition center and trade hall located within walking distance from SMX.
SMXCITE will be the country’s largest international exhibition venue. Its five expansive halls will easily accommodate 803 standard 3×3-meter booths – or up to 18,000 guests per event.
Once complete, both venues will offer a combined 35,000 square meters of exhibition space. This addition further cements Bay City Manila as the country’s prime MICE destination.
PICC Celebrates Historic Re-opening
Following a 6-month major renovation, the Philippine International Convention Center reopened in October 2025. A cultural icon and a premier events venue, the revamped PICC features masterfully restored interiors and upgraded facilities. Its premium finishes, elegant decor, and curated artworks elevate the venue’s ambiance. Enhanced security, new audio and tech systems, and improved connectivity also equip it well for modern needs.
With landmark events already booked – including the 2026 ASEAN summit – this world-class MICE venue will host over 600 activities in the coming year.
TRANSPORTATION

Meanwhile, NAIA Terminal 3 patrons can grab a bite from the 6,000-square-meter Mezzanine Food Hall. To make dining even more convenient, an additional two food halls will soon open before the end of 2025.
With 150,000 OFWs estimated to return for the holidays, these enhancements will help thousands of travelers feel more comfortable while in transit.
